Fruit Salad
This iconic queer cabaret show has been keeping Edinburgh locals happy and gay for years. I first discovered it a few months ago and had one of those ‘where has this been all my life!’ moments. They often showcase Edinburgh’s best Drag Kings which really get the lesbians going. You can definitely expect some hot suits, sexy cabaret, and to leave feeling queer joy to the max. Events are hosted once a month, 9pm in Paradise Palms (date revealed on their instagram: @fruit_salad_edi). Tickets are £7, with a portion of the tips donated to Medical Aid for Palestinians. A good night, and a good cause!

The Sapphic Space UK
This group hosts an array of different socials in both Edinburgh and Glasgow. They vary from speed dating, to pizza socials, vision board nights to drag bingo – so if you’re looking to meet queer friends or find the love of your life, they have lots to offer! They usually host around three socials a month which are posted on their instagram (@thesapphicspaceuk), with ticket prices at around £5-10. It’s a Community Interest Company, meaning all the funds go back into the organisation, so support the sapphics and they’ll support you right back!
Sapphic Sounds Edinburgh
This one’s for all the musical gays. Describing themselves as ‘a women and gender queer led open mic night’ they provide a safe space for queer people to perform spoken word, sing, play instruments, or display any other talents you may have up your sleeve. Whether you want to get up on stage or just appreciate the beautiful energy, it’s always a good time. Tickets are free with donations accepted towards Scottish Trans, Medical Aid for Palestinians, and Shrub Coop. Dates are posted on their instagram: @sapphicsoundsedinburgh.
Sapphic Socials
It is often a misconception that university societies are a closed group, but their events are often open to people from across the city and provide a great way to socialise with the younger queer generation. The Edinburgh Universities’ Pride Society joined up with the Feminist Society to create a space for sapphic people to mingle. They’ve so far hosted a cocktail
Meeting people in person is so important, not only for your love life, but also for creating a community. So, I urge you to put down Hinge, pick out your best outfit and go be gay!
